UW Office of Research
The Office of Research is led by the Vice Provost for Research and oversees three administrative units: Human Subjects Division (HSD), Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), and Office of Research Information Services (ORIS). The UW Office of Research is home to University research policies and the Grants Information Memorandum (GIM) policies.
Human Subjects Division
The Human Subjects Division (HSD) is a service and compliance unit within the Office of Research. It is the core of the UW’s Human Research Protection Program and it manages the four Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) that review and oversee UW human subjects research.

Institute of Translational Health Sciences
The Institute of Translational Health Sciences is dedicated to speeding science to clinic practice for the benefit of patients and communities throughout Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho, (WWAMI) and beyond. ITHS promotes this translation of scientific discovery to practice by fostering innovative research, cultivating multi-disciplinary research partnerships, and ensuring a pipeline of next generation researchers through robust educational and career development programs.
